Mercy Wolf

“… reign in a restless mind and move towards greater happiness and deeper meaning.”

My approach to meditation is to keep it simple. It’s not about achieving deep or transcendental states. It’s about learning to focus your attention on being totally present. By observing, allowing and accepting what’s going on right now, you’ll be able to reign in a restless mind and move towards greater happiness and deeper meaning. People put off learning to meditate because they feel their minds are too busy to even get started. A peaceful mind isn’t a prerequisite for meditating but it is an achievable outcome – all it takes is a little practice.

I became a meditation teacher because learning to meditate transformed my life and I want to share that possibility with others. Practicing meditation provides my life with a solid foundation, and has supported me through some difficult times. As a society and as individuals, we’re becoming increasingly focused on the mind. We believe we can solve problems through thinking and doing when, in reality, this is only possible through being – it’s by awakening our minds and opening our hearts that we’ll reach the next stage of our evolution.

I chose to join the Yoga Synergy team because I was blessed with the opportunity. Over the years, I’ve tried countless styles of yoga and come across many teachers. But, after attending my first Yoga Synergy class, I knew I’d found what I was looking for. I enjoy the originality and flow of the style and the fact the class sequence progresses each week keeps it interesting and challenging. I especially love the attention to detail and the level of care shown by the teachers, which has given me a new, more thorough understanding of yoga.

So what can you expect when you come to my class? Classes are non-religious and non-sectarian. I draw on both traditional and modern techniques. This enables you to sample a variety of styles and develop a practice that suits you. Each class includes a guided meditation (which allows you to get in tune with your body), a longer mindfulness meditation, and a short meditation on compassion. There’s also a short discourse on related topics, and time for questions. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced practitioner, I hope you will join us.
