Robbie Solomon

“I became interested in teaching prenatal yoga because it really complements my work as a midwife.”

What I value most about yoga is the peace of mind that I experience. Yoga brings me into the present moment more than any other activity I’ve tried; it gives me energy, and makes me feel grounded and light of heart at the same time. Yoga also brings me a sense of physical freedom through increased strength and flexibility. Every time I attend a yoga class or do my own practice I feel inspired in some way, and more connected to myself and to others. When it’s practiced well, yoga has the power to move energy around the body and produce real transformation.

I became a yoga teacher because I still remember how inspired I felt the first time I attended a yoga class. Yoga presented a mystery, the secret of which I longed to discover. And as I began practicing regularly, I was excited to regain some of the flexibility I had as a child. My practice has given me so much that I want to be able to pass those benefits and experience on to others. I became interested in teaching pre-natal yoga because it really complements my work as a midwife.

I enjoy being part of the Yoga Synergy team because I love the style of yoga that Simon and Bianca have developed. Although each Yoga Synergy teacher teaches the same yoga style and sequence, we all have our style and special gifts to bring to our students. There’s a mutual respect amongst the teachers and this provides a great environment for growth. I like that our yoga style is versatile enough that you can work at a few different levels in the one class – allowing each student to get the most out of their individual practice.

About Robbie

Robbie became interested in yoga after spending a year in Asia – during which she learned meditation in a Burmese Buddhist Monastery. When she returned to Australia, Robbie studied meditation and yoga philosophy with Acharya Upendra Roy, as well as practicing both Ki and Iyengar Yoga. It was in Greece, that Robbie was introduced to Ashtanga Yoga by Derek and Radha Ireland. She started a yoga group for women on the Greek island of Aegina. Back in Australia, Robbie worked as a registered nurse and continued her yoga studies with Eileen Hall, Dena Kingsberg, Pattabhi Jois and Clive Sheridan. She also completed her Yoga Synergy Teacher Training and now teaches prenatal yoga while working full-time as a midwife.
